All items downloaded from Envato subscription are licensed under a project-specific commercial license. Each download gives you a license for one specific project or end product (except for fonts and add-ons, which you can use on as many projects as you like once installed). To use an item in multiple projects, simply relicense the item again via the item page or My downloads. The license makes it easy to use items in a broad variety of projects, including those of a commercial nature.
Unlike licensing models that restrict usage by location or platform, Envato subscription uses project-based licensing. Each license covers one complete project, regardless of where or how that project is shared or distributed. For example, you can use the same WordPress theme on different websites, as long as you have created a separate license for each website.

Licensing on Envato just got simpler
Downloads are now automatically licensed for commercial use. No extra steps, no project registration required.
Once upon a time at Envato, licensing had an extra little step. You'd find the perfect asset, hit download, then pause to assign it to a project. It worked, but it also added a teeny little bit of friction to a process that should feel effortless.
That's changed.
We've completely redesigned how the Envato license system works for our creative stock library so you can spend less time assigning licenses and more time creating. Whether you're downloading templates, stock footage, or pulling tracks from the Envato music licensing library, the process is now the same across the board.
What's new
Every download now includes a valid commercial license by default. The moment you click that download button, you're covered. No project name required, no workspace assignment, no extra clicks. The license is created instantly, and you're ready to use the asset in personal, client, or commercial work.
We've also clarified the license terms to make this simpler: your commercial rights don't depend on registering a specific project name. Download an asset and you're licensed — or create a new license anytime from My Downloads or the item page.
For those who liked organizing licenses by client or project, you needn't fret — that option still exists! You can assign downloads to specific projects whenever you want, either during download or afterward, and the process is extremely simple. The difference is that it's now optional rather than mandatory, and purely for your own organizational purposes.

Three Key Things to Know About the Envato subscription License
- There is one simple set of license terms for everything on Envato subscription. No more worrying about which license terms apply for what type of item. And you can forget about standard vs extended licenses. There’s only one license and it’s written in plain, simple English.
- You get broad commercial rights with the license. You can use items on in-house projects and for paying clients. Use them in marketing collateral, advertising campaigns, and even on products you sell. Of course, there are some common sense limitations: no re-selling or re-distributing, no use in on-demand services or merchandising without adding value. But almost anything else is OK.
One note: if you're using Envato's AI tools like ImageGen, VideoGen, or MusicGen, those outputs are covered by separate terms with some additional restrictions. See our AI Product Terms for details. -
It’s one project per license (excluding tools like fonts and add-ons). Each time you download an item, a new license is created for use of that item in one specific project or end product. And if you want to use an item on future projects, simply relicense the item for each separate end-use. We make it easy for you to tell us what the license is for by recording the date of download, and also allowing you to label each license as well. If the item is used in a project that is completed during an active subscription, the license remains valid for that specific project even after your subscription ends.
When an item is a tool (such as a font or add-on), you can install the Item on one device per license. The license starts when you download and install the Item, and you can then use the font or add-on to create as many projects as you like. Your commercial rights to completed work using these tools remain permanent, even after subscription cancellation. However, you need an active subscription to install tools and create new projects.

Highlights of the Envato subscription License
- One simple commercial license: All items on Envato have the same simple license terms. You get broad commercial rights, so you can use items with confidence on work or personal projects.
- Create a license each time you use the item: Each time you download an item, you get an ongoing license for a single, specific project. Want to use an item again? No problem! Visit your downloads and simply create a new license for a different end use, or alternatively go to the item page and a new license will be created automatically for your new project.
- Clear guidelines on what's not allowed: Some common-sense limitations do apply. You can't re-sell, re-distribute, or use in on-demand services, or merchandise items without adding value.
- Future-proof licensing, even if you unsubscribe: If you unsubscribe and you haven't completed your project or end product, you can't use items from Envato any more. But any existing uses for items that are used in completed projects or end products during your subscription are still covered. Now that's peace of mind!
We've provided summaries of allowed and prohibited usage of items under the terms of the Envato subscription License, but it's your responsibility to ensure your intended usage of an item complies with the full license terms. Make sure you've read the license wording carefully before starting any project.
When downloading items from Envato subscription, content that is used by the author of the item to demonstrate how the item works (for example, things like photos in themes and audio files for videos) may have been sourced from a third party and it's your responsibility to check the files, before you use the item, to ensure that there is an appropriate license for your intended use. How can you do that? Simply download the item and check the files in the download package ("Documentation" or "Licensing" folders) before you use it in a project.
