Envato Elements collects tax on digital subscriptions in accordance with the local tax laws of countries where we are registered. This article explains how tax is applied, what appears on your invoice, and what to do if you're a registered business with a valid tax ID.
How is tax applied?
Tax is automatically calculated based on your billing address and, in some cases, your payment method at the time of purchase or subscription renewal. The type of tax (e.g. VAT, GST, HST, QST, or PST) and rate applied will depend on your country or region.
How do I provide my tax ID to Envato?
You can add your tax ID (such as VAT, GST, or business number) in your Envato account settings.
- If the ID is valid, it will be saved and displayed on your invoices.
- If it’s invalid or incorrectly formatted, it will not be accepted. Please check the format and try again.
- If issues persist, we recommend contacting your local tax authority for assistance.
Important: Any updates to your tax ID will apply from your next subscription renewal invoice and cannot be applied to past invoices.
Where can I find my invoices?
You can view and download your invoices anytime from the 'My Account' page. Each invoice includes:
- Your subscription fee
- The tax type and rate applied
- Your tax ID (if provided)
What if I don’t provide a tax ID?
If you don’t provide a valid tax ID at the time of purchase or subscription renewal, tax will apply based on your billing address and the local tax laws in your region.
See the table below for details on how tax is applied in your country or region.
