License certificates are issued by Envato Elements and can be useful for resolving YouTube Content ID or copyright claims.
How to Download a License Certificate
New Envato experience
- Click
icon from any item page to access and download an existing license for that item, or create a new license.
- Your license download will start, and you will receive a .txt license certificate file.
- You can also click your name in the bottom-left corner, select 'My downloads / Projects'.
- Click 'View licenses' for the selected item. A new window will appear with a 'Download license' link.
- Your license download will start, and you will receive a .txt license certificate file. You can also create a new license for that item by clicking on the "+" sign.
Envato Elements classic site
- Navigate to 'My downloads' in your account drop-down menu.
- Click 'View licenses' for the selected item. A new window will appear with a 'Download license' link.

What is an Item License Code?
An Item License Code is a license identifier in the form of a unique numerical code. It is not an Item Purchase Code, which is issued on Envato Market upon purchase and included only in the Envato Market item's License Certificate. Envato Elements and Envato Market operate under different terms. You can learn more about Envato Market here.
Hint: None of the items in the Envato Elements library require a purchase code. This means you will have complete access to utilize the items' core features as intended.

What about WordPress items on Envato Elements?
Some items, such as WordPress themes and plugins, have features that can be unlocked via a purchase code (e.g., automatic updates). These features are not available for Envato Elements subscription content; they are only for Envato Market purchases.
However, you can manually update an item by downloading the latest version and replacing the updated files in the appropriate plugin and/or theme folders.
Please Note: You may still see purchase code activation requests for items downloaded on Envato Elements. For any such requests, please ignore the activation message and proceed to use the plugin/theme as normal. If you find access to the item's core features is still blocked by a code, please contact our support team for assistance. This does not include automatic updates or item support.

Do I need a purchase code?
Envato Elements does not issue purchase codes when you download and license items for your projects. Instead, each time you download an item, or create a new license for an item, you receive an ongoing license for a single, specified project. Each license is valid upon download of the item, or creation of a new license for the item, and valid for a single specific project while your subscription is active. Provided your project is completed during your subscription, the license for an item will remain valid for that specific project even if your subscription ends.
