Every time you download an item from Envato Elements, you must choose whether you are licensing it for 'Project Use' or 'Trial Use'. Understanding the difference between these usages is important as it has implications for the license you are granted.
Downloading Items for 'Project Use'
You should download items for 'Project Use' whenever you intend to use that item in a project which will require an ongoing license, even if you no longer have an active Envato Elements subscription. An example of this would be if you need an item which will be incorporated into a project you deliver to a client.
When you click the "Add & Download" button, that will be the 'Project Use' download.
It's important to note that a 'Project Use' download only grants you an ongoing license for that single project. You must obtain another 'Project Use' license for each distinct project you use the item in. You must have an active Envato Elements subscription to obtain new licenses.
Downloading Items for 'Trial Use'
You should download items for 'Trial Use' when you don't intend to use that item in a project which requires an ongoing license. This kind of use enables you to quickly test & compare items, explore new ideas and understand how items could be used in your projects.
When you click the "Download without license" button, that will be the 'Trial Use' download.
Depending on whether it is a Trial or Project use, you will see that information on the "My downloads" page in the "Project license" column.
If you decide to use an item originally downloaded as 'Trial Use' in an actual project, you must relicense it for 'Project Use'. Simply click 'Add a license', type in a project name and it is ready for 'Project use'!
